Paul Czerlitzki (*1986, D/Pl) concentrates on canvas and pigments as the primary materials of painting. This means that coloration and brushwork, abstraction or figuration are not subjects of primary interest. It could be described as painting before beginning to paint. A concept consists in spraying in foil wrapped canvasses thus producing signs and figures stemming from the damages of the packing material. Or to use canvases as membranes through which the paint is transferred to the canvas or a wall. In another concept loose pigments are collected on a canvas, exposing it to gusts of wind or unintentional touches. In all these processes the inclusion of calculated hazard is part of the work.
