Could scent not store an occurrence – a move, a touch, a sight? And if this scent were that of a rose, what would be the occurrence it would store – beauty, exuberance, death? What remains of the rose when it is torn apart, only single notes lingering? The old rose would look at the new rose and say: “Interesting”. Interesting – an ambiguous aesthetic evaluation that makes clear one has not yet quite made up one’s mind.
