Material Manipulations is the second chapter of a collection exhibition based on material as an artistic commodity. After Material Memories showed how material can be charged with meaning, the second chapter deals with the aesthetic quality of the materials, focusing on the artistic treatment processes and material experiments. The exhibition unites artistic positions from different generations and geographic contexts: what they have in common, is the unconventional use or processing of material and the curiosity to experiment with it.

What stories do we tell? Who do we listen to? Blood, sweat, tears, and bodies: memories are stored in nature. With the help of natural materials and audio-visual media, Bopape approaches the question of what we remember.
The multi-sensory show invites visitors to smell, taste, hear, see, feel and dream. It recalls untold, forgotten and repressed stories and with the help of dreaming, departs from linear narratives. Through remembering, Bopape approaches the desire for collective healing: the dream to come.

MADANII is a genre-rebel, a barrier-breaking recording artist and creative instigator from Berlin. With an artistic vision rooted in persian culture and informed by her upbringing as the daughter of political refugees in germany, MADANII meshes rhythms, languages, politics, shapes and sounds into a neoteric musical and visual tapestry. MADANII tells an autobiographical story of otherness, un-belonging, and interweaving between cultures, struggles, generational dreams, political absurdities, and female love - all reflected in an unique style that touches on avant-pop, alternative r&b and trap. Widely known for her interdisciplinary approach, MADANII crafts a highly personal audiovisual journey for each of her songs with a clear artistic style and language that has earned her comparisons to the likes of sevdaliza, fka twigs or rosalía.

During the opening weekend, we transform the pink Caring Space into a space for creative encounters. We offer a bilingual (English/German) Art and Healing Workshop – in collaboration with the IAC (Integratives Ausbildungszentrum Zürich).
Based on the exhibition "Dineo Seshee Raisibe Bopape: (ka)... | Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst", we explore the healing potential of art. The artist recalls forgotten and repressed stories and invites us to smell, see or dream. Inspired by Bopape, we experiment with colours and natural materials, paint dream images or work with clay. After an introductory round together, we will immerse ourselves individually in our own works. At the end, we will share feelings, dreams and thoughts in the group. No previous artistic experience is required. It's all about creativity, perception and encounters. Come and dream with us!
