Emma Jung & Rebecca Ackroyd, «Tage und Nächte»
Rebecca Ackroyd, Emma Jung

May 17 – November 02, 2025

Fri, June 13, 10:00 – 21:00
Sat, June 14, 10:00 – 18:00
Sun, June 15, 10:00 – 18:00

This extraordinary exhibition brings the previously largely unknown cosmos of Emma Jung (1882–1955) into dialogue with contemporary British artist Rebecca Ackroyd (*1987). For the first time, Emma Jung’s records from her analytic practice, including drawings, paintings, poems, and notes, are being presented to the public. Emma Jung, a skilled analyst and close collaborator and interlocutor of her husband C.G. Jung, significantly influenced the exploration of the human psyche – even though she often worked in the background of the famous Swiss psychiatrist. Rebecca Ackroyd’s œuvre features numerous parallels with Emma Jung. Her drawings give shape to the unconscious and, similarly to Jung, reflect the psychological and spiritual dimension of art. For this exhibition, she is developing a new series of drawings and sculptures, conceived as intimate expressions of symbolic orders, inviting a closer encounter with the inner world of making.

Six artists—students of the MA Fine Arts at Zurich University of the Arts—leave trails in the Artists’ Bar at Cabaret Voltaire, leading in various directions. The exhibition “The Red Herring” named after the English expression for a false or misleading clue, plays not only with distraction but also with ambiguity and the expectations we place on contemporary art and the historical birthplace of Dada. This site is visited daily by tourists, the art scene, and random passersby – some hoping to discover treasures from the last century, despite the space undergoing modifications over time.

Screening, Reading and Listening 'Each and every gesture'
A collaboration between Istituto Svizzero and Mousse, curated by Lucrezia Calabrò Visconti and Barbara Casavecchia

For the second year, Istituto Svizzero and Mousse team up for presenting in Zurich Each and every gesture, an evening of screenings, listening sessions and readings hosted by Cabaret Voltaire. The title is taken from a text written by David Wojnarowicz in 1987 for an AIDS benefit promoted by the Giorno Poetry Systems. The works on view gather exuberant actions as well as subtle movements, often dwelling into queer histories and hypotheses for resistance. Each and every gesture is an invitation to welcome shared gestures, to build safe spaces, to listen in order to weave new forms of collective memory.
