The Batagaika Megaslump: an emblem for the unleashed power of destruction in our time. This tremendous, chaotic mass movement stands for the uncontrollable, the overwhelming in a world that has lost its balance due to human intervention. The climate catastrophe reveals the dramatic disturbance in the relationship between humanity and nature. While humanity was once embedded in natural processes, today it tries today to control them, with catastrophic effects.
But there is another way. My artistic work engages with the reciprocal relationship of the human being with nature. In painting, layerings and natural processes generate independent realities, not as completely controlled works, but as an expression of a being that develops on its own. Outside influence is minimized, reality allowed in. In this openness, there is an artistic countermodel to human dominance over nature: a space of “allowing to happen,” where the uncontrolled is not seen as a threat, but as a possibility.
Art need not only react to crises, but also open new ways of thinking, not with unidimensional answers, but with a vision that recognizes the complexity and autonomy of nature. In a time of destruction, art can be a site of dialogue and reflection, and perhaps an impulse for a new understanding of our relationship to the world.

Flurin Bisig

June 13 – July 26, 2025

Fri, June 13, 11:00 – 21:00
Sat, June 14, 11:00 – 20:00
Sun, June 15, 11:00 – 18:00

The exhibition combines sculptures, drawings, and photographs that reflect the everyday life and biography of the artist in dialogue with the tradition of sculptural tradition. They thematize the complex, fluctuating relationships between individual needs and experiences on the one hand and the external conditions on the other. In so doing, it explores the elementary question: how can something as contradictory as the amorphousness impermanence of personal emotions be captured in a lasting form?
