All of Us Together honours Gustav Metzger (1926–2017), the artist and activist whose work blended artistic innovation with political and ecological urgency. This exhibition, his first in Switzerland in 20 years, offers a rare opportunity to explore his visionary practice.

The title, drawn from Metzger’s Extinction Handwritings (2014), reflects his lifelong commitment to collective action and environmental responsibility.

The exhibition spans two floors, featuring key works such as Liquid Crystal Environment (1965/2024), Drop on Hotplate(1968/2024), and pieces from the Historic Photographs series, alongside archival materials, handwritten notes, and nearly ten hours of recorded conversations.

Metzger’s ongoing dialogue with Hans Ulrich Obrist—through projects like Take Me (I’m Yours) and the Extinction Marathon—shaped this exhibition, highlighting his lasting influence on art, activism, and the urgency of addressing today’s ecological and political crises.

Curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Arthur Fouray. Exhibition is currently on view on the 1st and 2nd floor of Luma Westbau.

Sun, June 15, 11:00 – 18:00

The Last Day (2023) by Rachel Rose is a seven-minute video exploring loss, memory, and time. Inspired by her daughter’s response to the death of a friend, Rose uses everyday objects in her children’s room to symbolically trace Earth’s history across seven epochs. From a bottle of milk representing the pre-vegetal world to a radar sensor-enabled rug signalling an impending end, the work mirrors the evolution of both the Earth and human imagination.

The Last Day’ was produced in part with support from the LUMA Arles & Google research initiative, organized by LUMA in partnership with Google ATAP, Google Arts & Culture and Google Brain. Courtesy of the artist, Gladstone Gallery, New York, Brussels, and Seoul, and Pilar Corrias Gallery, London. Exhibition Exhibition is currently on view on the 3rd floor of Luma Westbau.
