Spread across several locations in the city, the exhibition unfolds as an archipelago of artistic “islands.” Installations, performances, textile interventions, and participatory formats create spaces for encounter and invite visitors to become an active part of the art works and a collaborative process.

«Altstetten Alphabet» by artist Riikka Tauriainen gathers plants, voices, and narratives like letters of an alphabet. Twenty-six flags featuring botanical motifs are spread across the Altstetten district on street lamps in public spaces. Combined with audio contributions, they create a poetic approach to this multi-voiced neighborhood.

The flags appear almost organically throughout the quarter, yet their placement is deliberate: like an underground rhizome, the «Altstetten Alphabet» winds through the district, surfacing at various locations. These spots highlight central aspects of Altstetten, forging connections that may not be apparent at first glance.
