The American artists Marlene Frontera (New York) and Julia Yerger (Los Angeles) each maintain a distinct painting practice. Both work from drawing and move between figuration and abstraction, between fragment and concentration. For the exhibition at Chamberlin, they are developing a collaborative work for the first time, translating their additive, painting-based approaches shaped by repetition and transmutation into the medium of animated film. Complementing the film, the exhibition will also present paintings by the artists. In a time of increasing isolation, shared decisions and attentiveness materialize in a concrete form of togetherness across spatial distance and time zones.
