classic meets art
When sounds meet paintings or sculptures, a very special dialogue between the arts is created. This is why we are expanding our collaborations with various galleries and museums. In recent seasons, our musicians have played at Hauser und Wirth, the Zurich Kunsthaus, the Museum für Gestaltung and the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen.

In the “classic meets art” series, the musicians of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich fly out: right inside an art space, we’re sparking a dialogue between different art forms. This time, we are joining forces with Re-Props at the Shedhalle. Walls, plinths, benches and other installations are both works of art and architectural frameworks. The pieces performed pose questions: Which composers belong on a plinth and why not others? When does a musical work of art begin and when does it end? We move through the space together, exploring it through music and dialogue.
